Odds and Ends

Here are some pics from the last few weeks. No sailing since Easter weekend but maybe tomorrow if the wind lays down. I also hope to take some initial measurements for Sjogin’s re-designers if it’s calm enough.

On the Flounder grounds
Paul and your Happy Skipper on the Winter Flounder grounds Easter Saturday. It was as raw as it looks.

Early april sunrise
Sunrise earlier this month on my daily visit to make sure the tide’s on schedule.

Happy bulbs
The Narcissus and Scillia are filling in nicely. The latter are showing up all over.

Spring!!!
March showers have worked their magic. The lavender bits are the biannual Lunaria (Money plant). They are very happy.

Rowboat progress
Quiet Saturday morning at Beaton’s.

Old friend
Son David’s former Claire, ready for a season of club racing.

Foggy
Hove to off Swan Point in the fog on Easter Sunday. It’s fun to sail in the fog in your backyard.

  1. Looks a bit froggy Russ! Can’t believe you haven’t been out since Easter.
I put the first coat of Cetol Varnish on the toerails and cockpit cubbies today. I have a prominent bending-over, lower back sunburn where the tramp stamps live on the young ladies. Hopefully a couple weeks and a few more coats and we’re in! Wait, I think I hear the Good Fumor Man coming! P.S.- The Fumor down in Cedar Creek that we hear all day long while working on the boat plays the Hamlisch “Sting melody”. Guess what’s in my head all day long?

  2. Hi Dave,

Garden duties, too much wind and a weekend in Philadelphia have intervened since Easter. Almost went out this morning but spent the time taking measurements for Sjogin’s re-designers. Details later.

  3. Russ: More Cetol today, Hamlisch in the air, and one more coat closer to smooth, shiny rails. Lunch was subs from Diesel’s, a sub joint in bayville.
Closer than Jersey Mike’s in Forked River. Pretty good alternative and maybe a few pennies less, but not as quick to assemble the sandwich.
