Hi Russ

I lofted her on the dining room table and sawhorses in the living room over a long weekend at the end of March. Did the lofting for the plywood version.

Couple of things became apparent; after some checking around I can’t afford the plywood anytime soon so would need to do strip plank/cold molding. More importantly I’d love her to be a little larger or at least longer. Mr. Gartside did mention some folks had discussed stretching her to 26 feet; so I’ll need to email him to see if there is any chance of that happening. Of course that moves things into a different financial state too. Hmmm.

In the meantime it was good to get the lofting practice which went quite well and only had a few small spots where the batten was different from the coordinate (may very well be my problem).

I’m so very happy for you at the great progress being made on Sjogin. I’m smitten at a distance. Thanks for sharing.

Best of luck with the kidney stone. My father had them once and they are no fun as far as I can remember. He did swear by large quantities of beer to help them pass though

Hi Gerard,

Yes, I’m so very pleased with the speed and efficiency of the Beaton’s work. The quality is first class. Good, solid, traditional repairs. Can’t wait to get to work on her when she’s in the shed in her customary spot. I’m currently laid up with a kidney stone but relief to come soon.

Which rig and construction method did you choose? Are you planing to start building soon? Any pics? I’m slowly working on a Sjogin article for WoodenBoat and they’d like to show a new one being built. Could be yours.
